Objective: To create an identity that combines a national symbol from the host country, a wintery element, and compliments the iconic Olympic rings. A rich, royal purple is used as it's a cool color infused with warmth or fire, and honorific of the champions coronated in ceremony.
The main mark is based on one of the national flowers of Norway, the pyramidal saxifrage, combined with a snowflake concept. A campaign would focus primarily on human interest stories highlighting the idea that athletes from all over the world, and from different backgrounds come together in one place to celebrate the joy of sport. The Oslo wordmark is a bit playful compared to the snowflake-flower mark, using perfect circles echoing the Olympic rings, a zigzag 'S' evoking the downhill racing paths, and an 'L' subtly shaped like a ski.
