Objective: To create a visual branding that’s genre agnostic, and can appeal to two audiences: the musician and the producer. The ask was that the mark ought to feel at once sturdy, authoritative, while at the same time, dynamic, creative and a bit playful.
I created a series of highly stylized glyphs for the wordmark lettering. These letters have a straight, blocky structure, with waves permeating throughout, bringing to mind the integral processing of sound through high-end recording hardware. The full wordmark is more playful and celebratory than the more institutional lockup version (used in certain contexts). Project is in-progress work for Portland, OR recording studio Heyday Recording.

Motion Ad
Cycling through the actions of a recording deck, and conjuring the nostalgic sound of reel-to-reel tape, this social media ad presents the basic iconography of music production, and leads into the H mark from the similar-looking pause symbol. It invites viewers to experience the pleasure of tracking their own song in a dedicated and distraction-free space
Ad Expressions
Ad direction appealing to the musician, and the producer. Personalized-feeling, human imagery to convey the idea that it's not just the space or the gear, but how you use it as a creative individual. Photography has subtle effects added like grain, and print-style grit, evoking the ability to process sound in analog ways.
Logo Concept Ideation
My recommendation was to create something that would not hew too closely to any one musical genre, but rather convey the authority, proficiency, and premium experience of a state of the art studio. These logos represent a good deal of variety offered to the client to see what struck a chord. Most of the concepts have a subtle reference to sound waves, the sensory, or a dynamic nature.
